Games are being organised through Bridgebase Online:

https://www.bridgebase.com

The dates of these games are advertised in the calendar of events on this website.

If members are interested, please email the club for details.

Introduction

Multiple table games are called 'tournaments' by Bridgebase and require one person (The director) to organise things. Because Bridgebase is normally open to all, an approved list of CEBC members who want to play in these games has to set up in advance. Therefore the director needs to know members' Bridgebase usernames in order to include them in the list. If you are not on the list you cannot join in a game... Email the club with your username and you can be added to the list.

If you do not have a Bridgebase username, go to the Bridgebase website and register.

There are rules to joining a tournament:

a) Registration for the tournament is open 2 hours prior to the start time. Registration should happen at least twenty minutes prior to the start time.

a) Both partners have to be logged in to register for a tournament -you cannot register to play if your partner is not logged in.

b) Players have to be logged in at the time the tournament starts: if one is not then neither will be allowed to play. There are no 'late entries'...

Therefore,

a) if players have a partner, both players must be logged in at the time of registration in order to register for the tournament

b) if players don't have a partner at the time of registration, there is a partner system where you can either choose from someone who is waiting, or add yourself to a list

c) both players must be logged in 5 mins before the start time of the tournament.

Comment

There is a "Help" function on Bridgebase that is quite useful.

Please note that occasionally you can get dropped out of Bridgewebs. Don't worry -just log back in and you will be returned to the table.

If you are playing in a tournament, login five minutes before the start time, click on 'competative' and wait. There will be no warning -your table suddenly appears.

There is an "undo" function -if both opponents agree, your card or bid can be undone -see note g) below.

One thing is different to 'normal' bridge -you alert and describe your own bids -see note e) below. This alert and description is only visible to the opponents.

Notes

a) Your hand is always at the bottom of the screen, irrespective of your seat.

b) A small box on the left shows you who is dealer -there will be a "D" in the little bar for that seat.

c) If you click on an opponents username, on the right of the screen their profile will appear. If they have filled this out, you will find out who you are playing.

d) The player whose turn it is to play or call is highjlighted in yellow (see picture below)

e) When it is your turn to bid, the bidding box will appear:

         1) If you need to alert your bid, click on the alert button first (Arrow 1 in picture below)

         2) Type a brief description in the description box (Arrow 2 in picture below)

         3) Now make your call

f) There is a message bar at the bottom (Arrow 3 in picture below)

        1) Click on the blue box to the left to change who the message is to be sent to eg Table or Private

        2) Type your message in the message bar and click on chat

g) Arrow 4 in the picture below shows the 'hamburger' icon (three horizontal lines). Click on this for other options, for example to call the director or request an undo

h) If you are declarer, dummy will appear on the screen. You have to play dummy's cards as well as your own.

i) If your partner becomes declarer, their cards will appear on screen, but they play all cards.

j) when you have played all the hands in the round, there may be a delay whilst other tables finish. You will find there is no warning as to a move -suddenly old opponents disappear and new opponents appear in their place!

k) At the end of the game, when all tables have finished, the results will appear. After the game, you can always look at the results by clicking on the history tab on the far right of your screen.
