None.
Chairman’s Report
Peter reported that the club had been playing at the Crickhowell Sports Pavilion for more than a year and he felt the move had proved very successful. The room accommodated the five, six, seven and even seven and a half tables we mustered during the year. The major change during the year had been the move from BridgeMate boxes to BridgePal tablets for our electronic scoring. The set-up took a little while and a lot of help from Andy Fryer, but apart from a few minor blips, the changeover had worked out well.
Membership numbers remained healthy with 39 as of the date of the AGM.
Peter said he had recently read all the AGM minutes since the club was formed in 1985 and he stated that one recurring issue was that of noise. He appreciated that Monday evening bridge was a social evening out as well as a competitive duplicate playing evening. He asked that members kept their voices down when talking after finishing their three boards and before moving to the next table, and that noise be kept to a minimum when clearing up the tables and chairs at the end of play, particularly when some boards were still being played.
Peter thanked Mike, Phil and Nicholas for their secretarial help, financial acumen and director advice, respectively, with a special thank you to Mike, who is vacating the post of secretary after fifteen years as a committee member.
Treasurer’s Report
The Treasurer, Phil Reed, reported a surplus for the year 2024/25 of £99.19. Room rent has decreased with the move to the Sports Pavilion, but expenditure amounting to £408 had been incurred with the changeover to the BridgePal tablets. Phil highlighted other items in the accounts, copies of which were available for members to peruse. For the coming year, the club subscription would remain at £5 and the WBU/EWBA subscription would remain at £20.
Election of officers/committee
Peter, Phil and Nicholas were re-elected and Lee Wright was elected onto the committee and would take over the position of secretary.
