| Michael Coda Cup 2026 |
| |
|
The 2026 Michael Coda Cup will be contested from Monday 16th to Friday 20th February. This year, like last year, the format is that each club will run its own session on its usual evening from a prescribed set of boards, and the results from clubs taking part each night will be combined. So it is effectively a mini-simultaneous pairs each day that week, enabling players to play at more than one club during the week. Club representatives are asked to inform the Secretary that they will be participating.
This year's charity to benefit from Somerset's Michael Coda Cup, will chosen by the SCBA Committee in due course.

| EBU rule changes |
There are 28 changes and clarifications. Here are a few that you are most likely to come across:
Opening 2NT. This is no longer needs announcing or alerting
Redoubles: showing a suit - Announce the suit. (eg exit transfers)
2 level openings: Announce. ('Weak' is less then 10, 'intermediate' is up to 12, 'strong, forcing' is most likely your Benji minor openings).
When playing 5 card Majors and a weak club, the 2 ♣ opening should be announced as 'may be 2'
