Club Statement |
As everyone is aware CBC recently temporarily suspended Kibitzers from all Club games and competitions.
The reason that CBC, and indeed many clubs across the world, took this step is that a small minority of bridge players are using multiple BBO User Names and a second device to see all 4 hands. This is cheating! We rely on each other to play the game we love with honesty and integrity. It is a betrayal of trust of both the opponents and the partner of bridge player(s) who engage in this practice. Any victory is meaningless, any prize awarded is without merit.
CBC is aware that members and friends enjoy watching their clubmates playing and miss this facility. Therefore it has been decided to re open Kibitzing on a trial basis, starting tonight. CBC will be taking the following steps to ensure the integrity of our games can be guaranteed as far as possible.
Members and friends are asked to fill in their BBO cards completely using their full name. If a member has a second BBO UN please fill that in completely as well. TD's will then know "who they have".
CBC online TDs will be monitoring tables during all competitions and ordinary club nights looking out for unfamiliar Kibitzers and/or Kibitzers whose cards are incomplete. TDs will be able to see which tables Kibitzers are watching and following. If a TD considers it necessary, these kibitzers will be asked to leave.
Members can contact the CBC online TDs if they notice any unusual activity, so that their concerns can be assessed.
If you have any other suggestions that will help us to protect our game from cheating, please tell us.
