I've just been phoned by the manager of the Day Centre to tell me that it is closed all day "due to unforeseen circumstances" which she wasn't prepared to divulge.
So there is no bridge tonight, Monday 27th November.
I'm very sorry about this but it's completely beyond our control.
Please let your friends know.
Bridge will be back next Monday 4th December.

Many thanks for your tolerance last night when we had to switch the scoring from computer to manual. As Nigel suggested, I had accidentally defined the movement as lasting two rounds, rather than the more usual twelve. Transferring the handwritten scores to the computer turned out to be just as tedious as I remembered, but thank you for writing all your scores so clearly. And on the correct lines, mostly.

At the end of last year, the Club had £1,626 in cash after notching up a deficit of £383 during the course of the year.

| Diversion needed if you're driving from Oxshott or Guildford |
Claygate is currently bisected by the closure of the railway bridge on Hare Lane, normally the busiest road in the village.
If you come from Kingston, Thames Ditton or Long Ditton, your journey is unaffected.
If you come from Guildford, Oxshott, Cobham, your normal route via Milbourne Lane is impossible until the end of March. You need to:
- Drive north up the Portsmouth Road through the centre of Esher, until you get to the Scilly Isles roundabout.
- Head right towards Claygate / Hinchley Wood.
- Once on the Kingston Bypass, get in the right-hand lane and turn right for Claygate.
- At the end of Manor Road South, turn left onto Oaken Lane.
- Head to the end of Oaken Lane, where you will encounter the mini-roundabout that you should be familiar with.

The overall winners of the Club Championship are the qualifying pair with the lowest total score over the course of the seven qualifying sessions. Sorry, there'll be no bridge this Monday at Claygate.
Elmbridge is still keeping quiet about its reasons for closing nearly all its Day Centres until 11th December (at the earliest), but the root cause is something to do with the safety of its service provision (and nothing to do with the buildings or equipment).
It's a great nuisance for many locals, even beyond the bridge world. Hope to see you all very soon.
