4. Chairman’s Report
The Chairman said:
"I will again try to be brief. It has been a relatively stable year, so there is not much that needs to be commented on. As ever, the club is indebted to all of you who keep it going. The chairman may set the strategy of the club, but its character is entirely determined by the army of volunteers who help prepare and run each session, and the ways that you interact with them. The club continues to be stretched for directors and scorers, and I thank you all for giving none of them a hard time last year.
"The Christmas Party repeated its successes of previous years, for which we must again thank primarily Muriel and Yvette.
"We got on top of the problems with the scoring handsets, largely by replacing some of the handsets and reconfiguring the WiFi router.
"Some things are still not being done. There are pages on the website that need updating. Trophies haven't been engraved for several years. We didn't run a Teams tournament last year, but no-one complained. We didn't participate in a Sims last year. We haven't run the Lisa Hill or Christopher Blundell tournaments for several of years. These are all things that could be re-activated ... if we had another volunteer or two.
"I will conclude by saying that all seven members of the committee are happy to offer themselves for re-election tonight. But you've already had most of us for three years. There used to be a rule in the constitution that the officers could stay in place for at most three years. I think you're going to get us for a fourth, but it really is time for others to come forward.
"I thank you all for your support over the past twelve months."

5. Treasurer’s Report
The Chairman said:
"The accounts have been on the website for several weeks, and there are also copies here on many of the tables here tonight for you to peruse. These have been compiled by Pauline and Muriel, and examined by John McKimmie. The main point, in my view, is that although the Club's cash balance went down by around £300 last year, it is still over £3,800, which is a sensible amount to keep in reserve for possible future expenses."
"If you have any queries on the accounts that have not been explained on the website please do email them to either Pauline or Muriel."
