Memories of D Day ~ and The Legendary Tom |
At our 15/2/18 meeting we celebrated the award by the French government of the Légion d'Honneur to Tom for the heroic efforts of his crew in the 1944 Normandy invasions. Carolyn read the citation - in rousing French - and Tom responded with a very moving and emotional reminder of his late colleagues. Later we celebrated in our traditional way, with a cake from Lynwen and champagne and chocolates. Those looking down at our comfortable community, in a cosy English Village Hall, on a damp afternoon, might reflect that their sacrifice was both fruitful and very deeply appreciated. Thank you, Tom and all those you represent.
