  Winter Session
Winter Session

Winter Session

Arrives 1 October

That's right. Time for snowball fights!

In the case there's not enough snow in Chiang Mai to roll one up, then winter season also means the end of the Summer Session competitions, and the beginning of Winter Session competitions (October 1 through March 31). Schedule for the winter competitions will be posted October 1.

Additionally, the winter session means ฿500 1/2 year membership dues for snow-birds.

Summer Club Day

We partied till we dropped!*

Finally the big day has arrived! The Club day at the Oak restaurant, which consisted of a free dinner for all the club members, sponsored by the BCCM committee. This was preceded by our usual Friday afternoon Bridge, with seven full tables. The dinner at the Oak Tree Restaurant was excellent, and with their usual great service, enjoyed by everyone. Following dinner, the awards for the summer pairs were given out to the talented winners.

Summer Club Day

Friday 31 August 2018

Game time as per usual - sign in by 1:15 pm.

To show appreciation for those members who continue to support the club throughout the year, there will be a Summer Club Day.

The club will pay for a free meal at the Oak Tree for all members after the Friday game.  The Oak Tree specialises in Thai/Chinese food.  European food is also on the menu, but takes a lot longer to prepare.  Drinks will need to be paid for by the individual.

If you have a non-playing spouse/partner who wishes to attend the price for them will be ฿300.

You can attend the dinner whether or not you play in the preceding Friday game. Please be at the Oak Tree by 6pm.

Trophies and awards for the winter session will be presented at the Summer Club Day.

If you will be attending the meal please email Dot by Wednesday 29 August.

  Time for Change

Yes, indeed. Time for a change.

This website is in need of a refresh. Despite being updated at least 3 times a week with results, we had the same picture and map on the home page for the past three years. The picture still exists - hit the About menu item. The map is still there too. Try the Where and When menu option, and scroll down to the "Where".

This home page is going to be updated frequently - at least once a week, if not more.

This is where you'll find those special events - Club Days, Away Games and similar announcements and all their details.

This is where you'll find hints and tips for getting the most out of this website and using the results analysis to tune up your game.

Try the News and Features menu and sub-menu options; all re-arranged to find the good stuff there.

There's more coming. Come back often and I promise you, you will find new items of interest.

  The Hands We Play

Last weekend, Peta was playing this hand.

What do you think was the final contract?

Definitely 7NT.

  What Would You Do?

What would you play this hand in?

N/S won the auction.

It took courage to play it in 3NT, but a result of +1 produced the top score on the hand.

This was Board 23 from Friday, June 8, 2018.

Away Bridge Session at The Nest 2

An away-game session is now open for registration.

These rates include the 10% discount on the listed price.

Check in: 2pm

Check out: 1pm at the latest

The kitchen at Nest 2 will be closed on Thursday evening but Nest 1 will be open.  There is an alternative restaurant run by Belgian/Thai, The Chiang Dao Resto, 5 ks down the road. The Friday BBQ is no longer being offered.

Meals and drinks are not included.

If you are planning on attending this event, I would appreciate an early response so that arrangements can be finalised.  Mail me at petamaryjones@gmail.com

I had forgotten how beautiful the countryside is in Chiang Dao and it is marginally cooler than Chiang Mai at the moment.  The staff at the hotel always give us a warm welcome and the food is special too.

I hope to see you there!
