Heritage Day

On Saturday 14th September the club will be open to the public, as part of the Heritage Open Days event, between the hours of 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The aim is two-fold – to showcase the way in which a Grade II Listed Building has been adapted over the years to be a bridge club, and to help promote the game of bridge as part of this year’s Festival of bridge – “Bridge It’s a Big Deal”.

We need members to be present throughout in order to shepherd visitors through the building, and to show that playing bridge can be fun. We need two or more guides to be available when the club is open, and they will be provided with historical and other materials with which to entertain and inform the visitors. We need bridge players to come along and allow themselves to be watched playing Bridge or MiniBridge, to give a flavour of what goes on in the building. We have boards with travellers all prepared for anyone to drop in and enjoy a few hands.

Please sign up below to say which role you would like (showing people around or demonstrating). If you wish to be part of our demonstration of the game on the day you can sign up as one or two or four people – and we will accommodate you in any of these.  You can also drop in unannounced at any point during the day.  Refreshments will be available throughout the day.
