Congratulations to Margaret Forde & Orla O'Carroll - National Inter 'B' Pairs Champions, 2017

Congratulations to Margaret Forde and Orla O'Carroll (Western Region) who led the field through three sessions of the National Inter 'B' Pairs Final.

Congratulations to Susan Cranley and Sharon Phelan (Western Region) who finished 4th overall and leading B2 pair.

And to complete a fine performance by the Western Region congratulations also go to Frances Mc Carthy and Marie Connolly who were 6th, Fiona Place and Andree Concannon who finished 11th in a field of 36 pairs.

Carlow Congress, May 6th-67th 2018
Three in a row victory for Joan Kenny and Enda Glynn in the Carlow Congress. Both Joan and Enda had a great success in the Carlow Congress by winning the Mixed Pairs, Congress Pairs and the Team event along with Des Houlihan and Paul Barrett.

Novice Pairs and Open Mixed Pairs: 20th May 2018

Two events were held on Sunday Evening 20th May 2018 in Galway Bridge Centre.

1. The Open Mixed Pairs event results:

1st Pat Ward and Carmel Musitano

2nd Margaret Walsh & Michael O’Gara

3rd Colette Mulhern & Bernie Finan

 

2. The Novice Pairs event results:

 

1st Mary Costelloe & Mary Treacy – Galway Centenary

3rd Noreen Hegarty & Joan Mc Carthy – from newly formed Mc Carthy 17 club

Senior Camrose- Teltscher Trophy: 20th May 2018


Ireland came third out of the six teams competing in the Senior Camrose event which took place in Wales,18th-20th May 2018. Gay Keaveney and Enda Glynn along with their teammates Micheal O’Briain, Padraig O’Briain, BJ O’Brien, Ranald Milne put up a tough fight. See results here.

The Sligo/Yeats Country Congress 2018: 9th June 2018

Well done to Gay Keaveney, Enda Glynn, along with their teammates Karel deRaeymaeker and Conor Boland on coming first in the Congress Teams which took place in Sligo on Sunday 9th June.
Also to Declan Harte, Margaret McCarthy along with their teammates Joanne Naaijkens, Harry Naaijkens on coming first in the Intermediate section.

Regional Qualifiers for the National Pairs Final: Nov 2017

Congratulations go to those who won the respective Regional Pairs Championships in the Masters and Inter grade competitions held November 2017. And well done to the pairs that qualified for the respective National Final which will take place 24th&25th March 2018 in the Hodson Bay Hotel, Athlone.

Camrose Results Session 1(2): 5th January 2018

IBU Semi Finals 21st /22nd Jan , 2018

Congratulations to Ciaran Coyne, Peter Goodman, Gay Keaveney, Enda Glynn, Derek O’Gorman & Terry Walsh on winning the semi-final of the IBU team qualifier which took place 20/21, Jan 2018 in Dublin. We wish them the best of luck in the finals which takes place 27/28 Jan 2018.

IBU (Teams) Semi Finals 21st /22nd Jan ,2018

Hard luck to Ciaran Coyne, Peter Goodman, Gay Keaveney, Enda Glynn, Derek O’Gorman & Terry Walsh who were just beaten at the final hurdle of the  IBU Team Trials, – a truly magnificent final. The event ran over 3 days with 10 stanzas  -16 boards in each (160 Boards in total), 26-28th Jan 2018 in Dublin.

The CBAI team fought a tough battle and finished 3rd out of the six teams that competed in the Camrose this weekend (April 6th-8th) in Dublin. The event ran over 3 days with 10 Stanzas- 16 boards in each. Representing the CBAI team were Gay Keaveney, Enda Glynn, David Walsh, Pat McDevitt, Peter Goodman and Ciaran Coyne. Lady Milne Trophy (Home Internationals): April 2018


Well done to Joan Kenny who represented Ireland on the Women's Home Internationals for the Lady Milne Trophy which took place in Edinburgh 13-15th April. Ireland came 3rd out of the 6 teams and Joan Kenny and her partner Teresa Rigby finished 3rd in the overall cross imps. See details here.

Congratulations, also belated, to Emer Joyce and Joan Kenny, who with their partners, qualified respectively in 1st and 2nd place in the recent Lady Milne qualifier. The Lady Milne Trophy is presented to the winning team in the annual Ladies Home Internationals championhsip..

Both players have represented the CBAI in previous years in this event and indeed have represented their country in other international events over several years.

Well done to both players (and their parttners) and we wish them well in the Lady Milne 2017 series which will take place in Wales in April 2017.

Congratulations are due in several directions re recent performances by Western Region Members at Regional and National level.

First off, a belated 'Well Done' to the members of the Western Region on their success in helping Connacht to retain the IBU Inter-Provinvial Championships.

Included in the Connacht Squad were the following members of the Western Region:

Gay Keaveney (PC), Henry Curran, Enda Glynn, Sean Glynn, Emer Joyce, Joan Kenny, Paul Scannell and David Walsh.

And all other members of the squad were former members of the Western Region but are now playing their bridge in other Regions around the country.
