Northside People Article on Battle of the Bay in support of St Francis Hospice

Very proud of this article in Northside People detailing the fabulous efforts of Dick Kiernan and Michael O'Keeffe in organising the Battle of the Bay event which raised almost €10,000 for St Francis Hospice.

Fun Team of Four Tournament on CAVBC/Foxbay on Saturday 27th Nov at 19.30

Aidan Synnott (087 246 9129) will be our TD tonight.  Here are instructions to you register for the game as the registration process is somewhat different from that in a Pairs game.

Instructions for CAVBC/Foxbay Team of Four Tournament

Each team consists of two pairs. One person acts as the team Captain. The Captain obviously plays with his or her partner. That leaves two others who constitute the second pair. One of that pair takes on the role of its Leader. So, the Team consists of the Captain and Captain’s partner plus a Leader and Leader’s partner. It is important that the Captain and the Leader are both comfortable with the BBO registration processes.

Registering

Registration starts as usual at 17:30 but is a little more complex than registration for a pairs game. At a pre-arranged time, the Captain and his or her partner logon together. The Captain invites partner to play in the usual way. Once partner accepts the invitation, you will notice the first difference; your name does not appear on the “Entries” list but on a different list which you access by clicking on a new tab at the top right of the screen which is labelled “Select Teammates”. In the meantime, Leader and his or her partner should go through the same process.

Once Captain and Leader have both registered with their partners, they must now form the team. Their partners are not required for this part of the process and don’t even need to be online. Captain and Leader must be online. Captain goes to the “Select Teammates” list and finds Leader and Leader’s partner’s names on it. Beside the names, there will be a button labelled “Invite”. Click it and Leader gets an invitation to join Captain’s Team. As soon as the invitation is accepted, all four players disappear from the “Select Teammates” list and appear on the “Entries” list.

What Can Go Wrong?

Plenty – for example you might inadvertently join the wrong team. If anything does go wrong, phone Aidan Synnott (087 246 9129). Note that this can take a bit of time so please register early.

Very Important

Registration must be completed by 19:15.

The first part of the information on the attached link will also help you with the registration process. https://news.bridgebase.com/2020/11/17/swiss-teams-tournaments/

First Team of Four Game on CAVBC/Foxbay - Sat 24 April at 7:30 pm
First Team of Four Game on CAVBC/Foxbay - Sat 24 April at 7:30 pm

Instead of an Individual competition on CAVBC/Foxbay this month, you have an opportunity to play in a Team of Four game on next Saturday 24th April at 19.30. If you have a team that plans to play in the Kirwan League games, this is a great opportunity for you to experience what it is like to play in a Team of Four Game on BBO.  The good news is that two of the participating teams will be the recipients of Spot Prizes where each team member will have 10BBO$’s added to their BBO Account.

The key details of the game are:

  • Date and Time            24th April at 19:30
  • Registration from      17:30
  • Spot Prizes                  Players on two teams will each receive 10BBO$’s.

Aidan Synnott will be our TD on the night, and he has put the following instructions together to help you register for the game as the registration process is somewhat different from that in a Pairs game.

Instructions for CAVBC/Foxbay Team of Four Tournament

First, we need to cover a little nomenclature.

If anything does go wrong, phone me, Aidan (087 246 9129 or 01 538 0516) and I will try to get you sorted. Note that this can take a bit of time so please register early. I don’t want to get a bunch of calls at 19:00.

Very Important

At 19:15 two things will happen. I will close registration and turn my phones off. So be warned, you must be fully registered with your team formed by 19:15, otherwise you won’t be able to play.
