We are sad to report the death of Peter Peterson on Saturday 8th June. Peter was the club's oldest active member and passed after a short stay in hospital in his mid 90s.
Peter was a remarkable man with a long career and a sharp bridge mind, he will be missed both on and off the table.
RIP Peter.

As you know, our lovely mother known as Joy to some, Pat to many, passed away peacefully earlier in December. As you would expect, she left us strict instructions on what her celebration with you all would be and where it would be too! We just didn't expect it to be so early.
We'd love you to come and celebrate her life and the amazing impact she had on so many people throughout her life. Please forward this email to all of those who you feel would like to come and see her. All the information you'll need is on this website:
https://patriciacrampin.muchloved.com
Please let us know via email to rcrampin@hotmail.com, or text / WhatsApp to 07976 013822 if you'd love to attend, as we're expecting a rowdy crowd and need to check on numbers! Feel free to contact us too if you just want to chat.
Thank you, Merry Christmas, and looking forward to celebrating with you in January.
It is with great sadness that we report the loss of a dear friend, Rodger Hughes on the 20th December.
Message from Val: I remember Rodger with warmth for his joyful personality with a mischievous sense of humour and in spite of being born deaf, this never held him back - I understand he was once voted as one of the best lip readers in the country so you learned not to count your points just mouthing them silently to yourself when at his table. He was a club stalwart coming in early in the afternoons to set up our evening tables each week.
There will be an invitation only special celebration held in early in January to be held at the cricket club.
RIP Rodger
It is with great sadness that we report the loss of a dear friend, Pat Crampin on the 8th December.
Pat was a warm and kind lady who always smiled, always laughed and was a joy to be around
At the bridge table, Pat made everyone feel welcome and lifted the spirits of all around her, especially her bridge partners
I would often greet Pat as "a pretty young lady", despite her physical age, I firmly believe she remained a pretty young lady all her life
I will miss a great socialite, a stalwart of the bridge clubs and a friend
RIP Pat
OCT23
It is with much sadness that we report the loss of a long-standing member and great friend, Derek Gunter.
Derek passed on Friday 20th October and our thoughts are with his loving wife and member, Rosemary and their daughter Natalie.
Derek was a warm and kind man and blessed with great bridge instincts. He was often near the top of the rankings and shared in success at the club and in external matches and events.
Even in trying times, Derek could be relied upon for a smile and an uplifting tale.
Derek was also one of my bridge partners and during a tough session at YHBC (where we had a string of zeros to start) said to me "Ian, don't get cross, don't worry about the scores, enjoy the game and have fun - the rest will be ok" - sure enough, we won that session! I will always remember the advice and the laughs and will miss you as a friend.
RIP Derek
MAY23
Marilyn Walker's funeral
The service will be held at 11 am on Friday 19 May at St Paul’s Church, Church Hill, Camberley followed by a reception at Windlesham Golf Club.
The family meanwhile will go to Easthampstead Crematorium after the church service and come on to the reception as soon as possible afterwards.
Members are welcome to attend both the funeral and reception but Deborah, Marilyn's daughter has asked if she could be given some idea of numbers for the reception.
Those planning on attending the reception please contact Bobbi Chilton by 08/05 at the latest. Bobbi's email address can be found in the members only section of our website.
Some CBC players may well opt to play bridge that afternoon after the funeral service rather than go to the reception and Deborah thought that would be a very fitting way to remember her mother.
YHBC members are very welcome to play at CBC in the afternoon.

It is with much sadness we report the loss of a very dear member, Harry Witt. Harry passed peacefully on Tuesday 13th Dec. Harry had a long life and a successful life, one of life's true Gentlemen. You could always rely on Harry to be gentle, kind, thoughtful, compassionate and humorous. A wonderful man on and off the Bridge table and partner (in Bridge) to Andrew Smith for over 30 years and Diana Matthews (in life and Bridge) for many years. Harry won the Members Plate 3 times at Camberley (including this year) and has always provided tough competition to any opponent (though always with a smile and quick to praise partners and opposition). Our thoughts are with Diana and his family, you will be missed Harry. RIP
