Many members have asked about the possibility of returning to face-to-face (f2f) bridge after we are released from the restrictions of lockdown and though we still cannot yet give an actual date until we know what future guidelines will be, we don't envisage we will return at least until September.
Before we can commit ourselves, your committee needs to assess the numbers of members who plan to return to f2f play. Our plan would be to open the club on Monday evenings and Friday afternoons, and in addition, due to the success we have enjoyed in playing online with Yateley & Hawley Bridge Club, to continue joining with them in playing online on Thursday evenings (subject to agreement with both clubs). For the time being we are suspending the supervised play sessions, but of course we would welcome any improvers, particularly those who have continued playing online, to join our other sessions.
There are many other things to take into consideration and we have a committee meeting at the end of July when we hope to be able to plan a possible return to f2f in as safe a way as possible. You can be sure that we will, of course, continue to monitor government and EBU advice in order to achieve this.
We have therefore pulled together a simple online survey and we would be grateful if you will please respond by 14th July 2021. Any members who don't reply by this date will be telephoned afterwards by one of our committee to ascertain their intentions.
