August 17, 2021 ACBL STATEMENT

Due to the pandemic, there has not been an open tournament held since March of 2020, and we are excited that it is now possible to staff some tournaments. We are making our decisions on staffing on a case-by-case basis, looking at multiple criteria to help ensure the safety of those attending, volunteering and directing. The criteria include local restrictions, virus positivity rates, vaccination rates and local bridge club activity.  You can see the list of scheduled tournaments here.

AMERICAN CONTRACT BRIDGE LEAGUE

Founded in 1937, the ACBL is the largest bridge organization in North America, serving over 165,000 members. Every year, we sanction over 3.5 million tables of bridge, played in more than 3,000 bridge clubs and 1,100 sectional and regional tournaments, plus 1 million tables played online. A challenging and rewarding card game, bridge draws players of all ages and walks of life – from Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to astronaut Greg “Box” Johnson. Read more.

With about 3000 duplicate bridge clubs across North America, you’re sure to find one close by.  ACBL authorizes local clubs to award masterpoints by issuing game "sanctions."
