RealBridge at Bury Athenaeum

RealBridge events are played on Tuesday evenings at 7:15pm, starting 23rd March (the final Sunday afternoon session is 21st March). Check the calendar for the next event and click the link to login from 6:45pm on the day. Table money is levied at £2 for members and £4 for visitors. 

RealBridge takes online bridge to the next level, with built-in video and sound, bringing the true face-to-face (F2F) experience online with real people. RealBridge is a different way to play online bridge and completely separate from BBO. BBO events continue as usual during the week.

If you have used Skype or Zoom, then you already have the setup and knowledge to play RealBridge.

Playing in a RealBridge session

RealBridge events appear on the calendar. Click the link to be taken to a RealBridge login page. When you login, please enter your name (not your BBO username) and your EBU number. Your EBU number appears in your membership details. If you are unable to find your EBU number then please use your Athenaeum Player Id (as entered on Bridgemates) and we will make a manual adjustment. Your name and EBU number will appear automatically the next time you login.

Sit at a table - if your partner is already seated, sit opposite.  It doesn't matter whether you play N/S or E/W.

The TD combines any half tables to create full tables before starting. The clock is for information only and is not used to move you between rounds (unlike BBO). The TD has full control and moves people for the next round and is not ruled by the clock. No more disappearing boards!

If you are playing on an Apple Mac with the latest version of MacOS (Big Sur), please do not use Safari as your Internet browser.  However, you can still play using a compatible browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Other Apple devices, e.g. iPad, are not affected and it is OK to use Safari.

Table Money

Table money needs to be paid on account, preferably using an online bank transfer.

where nnn is your player id as entered on the Bridgemate terminals.

If you don't bank online then please write a cheque and post to the Treasurer.

It is suggested that you deposit a fixed sum, e.g. £20 would cover ten RealBridge events. You can check your balance using the Payments page. Table money is deducted automaticaly each time you play a RealBridge event. You need to login to the Members section of the website to view your payments. Don't worry if you happen to go overdrawn but please rectify your balance as soon as you can. You will still be allowed to enter a RealBridge event at the Board's discretion. Any unused credit can be used as table money at any session once the Athenaeum re-opens.
