Re-opening and Face Masks |
We are currently running F2F/BBO hybrid tournaments on Monday evenings, F2F on Wednesday evenings and BBO on Thursday evenings.
If you wish to attend the club, please use the website booking system. Guidance is supplied here.
For F2F you can pay contactlessly upon arrival or preferably online (available in the menu on the day of the event).
As Covid restrictions have been eased for a while, the Club's rules are going to be relaxed. As from Monday 6 June it will be optional and not mandatory to wear a face covering or face mask at our Face to Face Club tournaments.
Also, you are now welcome to return to the club if you are not fully vaccinated. However we would still request that members who have Covid symptoms or have tested positive do not attend the Club and that we all continue following the recommendations regarding hand washing and use of hand sanitiser.
The tables remain spaced out and some windows kept open (fortunately the temperatures have increased a bit since we re-opened!) and we are continuing to use the CO2 monitors in the playing rooms to check levels.

Face to Face Bridge |
It's been great to be back in the club after all this time. But some of you, like me, may have got more used to playing on BBO's format so here are a few memory joggers of some differences in F2F play:
- You need to sort your own cards out and hold them up so your opposition can't see them.
- Remember to use the Stop card.
- Alert your partner's conventional bids, not your own.
- You can play and bid out of turn if not careful.
- There is no Undo - although an immediate retraction can be made if you pull out the wrong bid.
- Be courteous and pleasant to your partner and opposition - remember that unlike BBO they can hear you!
- Dummy should remain silent and not comment while their partner is playing the hand.
Most importantly, enjoy yourself.

The Buchanan has been the home of bridge in Glasgow since 1932.
The club is in a 19th century listed building and yet has all the benefits of technology with computer-dealt boards, Bridgemates on all tables, etc.
