Cafe Bridge

The heavens opened and the thunder rolled as we scurried up and down West Wickham High Street clutching our score cards but a warm welcome met us in the varied venues hosting the Cafe Bridge event in aid of St Christopher’s Hospice. The £35 entry fee covered our lunch and a peripatetic game of bridge scored on the BriAn app on our phones.

We met bridge players from San Diego and Putney as well as some old friends from the Bromley area and to cap it all came second and won a prize.

There is another event locally - this time in Beckenham on 13th October and also in aid of St Christophers. Click the link here for further details.

BRITER BRIDGE CLUB 2, WEEKEND, WORTHING, 1-3 OCTOBER

Our first club weekend was originally planned for June 2020. Several changes of date and participants later on a wet and windy weekend during a petrol "crisis" 6 and a half tables sat down in the Ardington Hotel for a friendly and challenging event with a surprise visit from Burrellvis the pelvis and his backing singers Andrea and Joan with Luke fingers James on the keyboard. The results of each of the four sessions can be seen on the results calendar and the overall results can be seen here

The first two pairs of each session received an engraved coaster originally commissioned for the 2020 competition! Where the first or second pair had already qualified the third pair received the prize. The top three overall pairs received pens similarly engraved to commemorate the 2020 event!

Everyone agreed that the hotel had done us proud on the catering front and that it was well Worthing the wait.

Evening session

For the first few months of our return to face to face bridge we are encouraging members and visitors to tell us if you are intending to play. This will enable us to take action if the room will be too crowded or it looks as though there will be fewer than three tables. Please complete the form below by midday on the Monday on the week you are playing. Only one half of your partnership needs to send a form. Receipt will be acknowledged but we will only reply personally if there is an issue.

If you want to advertise a bridge related charity event please let Jan know and we will place the details here.
