This is an invitation to all members to put their names forward to represent Brighouse Bridge Club in the 2026/27 Yorkshire Bridge League season starting on 25th October. Participation in the league teams is a good way of improving competitive bridge-playing skills. 

For those who haven't played in the teams previously, this is the format:

• There are seven fixtures during the season and we will be playing three of those at home and four away.
• The fixtures are played on a Sunday, generally starting at 14:00 (arrive 13:30 - 13:45) and finishing around 18:15. The YCBA are flexible regarding the start time and therefore we can choose to begin our home matches earlier if we so desire.
• Each team consists of four pairs who play the opposition pairs in four eight-board rounds - 32 boards in total.
• There is a break between each round for scoring up, with a longer refreshment break after two rounds.
• As teams enter from all around Yorkshire, our away trips can vary between being quite local or involve travelling further afield to, say, Ripon, York or Doncaster.
• Our home venue is now the Crow Nest Park Golf Club. We have opted for this venue in the hope of encouraging more of our members to play for the club.
• A buffet meal is provided.
• There is no charge for playing in these matches.

The fixture dates are:

25th October 2026, 8th November 2026, 22nd November 2026, 6th December 2026, 14th February 2027, 28th February 2027, 14th March 2027

All those who wish to play in the teams this coming season, whether regulars, newcomers or those who preferred to play for other clubs are welcome to put their names forward. Please reply to me by Friday 24th July  at paulbayley6@aol.com so that we can decide how many teams to enter in the League. You don't need to be available for all the matches, but please indicate if you already know any dates when you are unavailable.

Once again, by popular demand, the YCBA  are running a Club Tournament Director Training Course

This is supported by the YCBA Bridge Development so the entry is FREE.

The course will be run by Barrie Partridge, to be held at Sheffield Bridge Club.

The course will run on 3 Saturdays, the 26^th  September, 10^th & 24^th October  starting at 10.30am and finishing at 5.30pm with a break for lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided but attendees will be responsible for their own food.

We are a friendly and active bridge club based in the centre of Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

We offer a range of social and competitive bridge events, five days a week, for players from beginners to experts.

Our English Bridge Union trained teachers provide beginners and improvers courses throughout the year and we have three teams regularly competing in the regional leagues.

Visitors and new members are always welcome, whatever their standard.

All morning sessions start at 10.00 am and all evening sessions at 7.00pm, unless stated otherwise. The afternoon session starts at 2.00 pm. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of playing sessions to give the TD time to set up the computer for a prompt start.

Late arrivals may not be included.
