Wednesday 11 March 2020 - Bridge Section AGM
 
The Annual General Meeting for members will be held at The Brentham Club (Main Hall) at 7:00 pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020.  We are looking for new Committee members.  Full detailed notice on the Bridge notice board.
 
Friday 17 April 2020 - Spring Lunch
       
Let's welcome Spring (a bit late!) with lunch after bridge.
Please put the date in your diary now, more details later.
If this goes well we will have an Autumn lunch as well as the Summer one!
 
The previous Friday (10 April) is Good Friday and we will be having bridge that day as well as the fun Easter Egg Cup.
IN MEMORIAM - VERNON HARTLEY

It is with great sadness that we heard that Vernon Hartley passed away on the 23rd December 2019. 

Vernon was a well know Bridge tutor and a long standing member of Brentham Bridge Club. Over the years he had many successes in Club and EBU tournaments.

Our sincere condolences go out to his wife Annella.

INTRODUCTION
INTRODUCTION

The Brentham Bridge Club is part of the Social Section of the Brentham Club, the long established Sports Club on the Brentham estate. 

This was one of the first English Garden Suburbs, situated on the north side of Pitshanger Lane Ealing. Other sections of the club include tennis, cricket, football, snooker, darts and bowls.

Further details can be found at www.brenthamclub.co.uk.  Members also have access to the well-appointed bar.

The Bridge Club is affiliated to the EBU and the Middlesex County Bridge Association.

Using pre-dealt hands, we play on Wednesday evenings (19:25 - approx. 22:30). A relaxed session is held on Friday mornings (9:45 - approx. 12:45).

We play both sessions in the main hall which has disabled facilities and air-conditioning.

BRENTHAM BRIDGE CLUB - WEDNESDAY EVENING BRIDGE

The Wednesday evening bridge is popular with players. We are a friendly and welcoming club for players of all standards. 

For the competitive amongst us, there are 7 competitions run throughout the year and we also participate in the Children in Need Simultaneous Pairs.

Bridgemates and computer scoring are used and the results are posted promptly onto our website.  EBU Master points are awarded.

Play starts at 19.25; please be seated by 19.15; we finish at approimately 22:30.

BRENTHAM BRIDGE CLUB - FRIDAY RELAXED BRIDGE
Our Friday morning bridge session is played in a relaxed and friendly manner. Players of all standards are welcome. If you do not have a partner, we have a host so you will be guaranteed a game.
 
There is a 10 minute coffee break half way through the morning. Also, the Brentham Cafe provides teas, coffees, snacks and cakes.
 
Bridgemates and computer scoring are used showing instant results which are posted onto our website. EBU Master points are awarded.

Start time 9:45; please be seated by 9:35; approoximate finish time 12:45.

The 2019 Joan and Roger Wright Mixed Pairs Cup was won by:

Janet Curtis and Philip Middlemast (59.23%)

Many congratulations.

Second were  Jenny and Colin Hearn (55.78%)

Third were  Lynne Thomas and Peter Garvin  (54.46%)

2019 BRENTHAM PAIRS CUP

The 2019 Brentham Pairs Cup was won by 

Colin Hearn & Mike Kaufmann (59.52%)

 

Many congratulations.

Second were: Barbara Kittle & Marlene Rose (55.95%)

Third were: Frankie Cable & Miriam Thomas (55.65%)

2019 EASTER EGG CUP

To add some extra spice to this event

the winning N/S and E/W pairs receive Easter Eggs. 

The top pairs were:

N/S: 1st   Jenny and Colin Hearn                             63.89%  

        2nd   Marian Diviney and David Carhart           61.62% . 

 

E/W: 1st  Barbara Fairbairn and Chris Haffernan   56.94%.

         2nd Janice and Jim Andrews                          55.83%.

2019 GRIMSHAW CUP

The 2019 Grimshaw Cup was held on 5 June and there was an extremely close result.  The top three pairs were separated by less than 1%.

Congratulations to winners who were Inge Veecock and Barbara Kittel with 57.94%.

Second were Mike Kaufmann and Colin Hearn with 57.54%.

Third were Peter Barnes-Hogget and Alun Lloyd with 57.14%.

2019 ALI MEGHANI CUP

The 2019 Ali Meghani Cup was won by

Peter Barnes-Hoggett and Alun Lloyd with an excellent 67.50%.

Many congratualtions.

2nd  Ken Butcher and Mike Richings with 60.00%

3rd  Ala Swietochowski and Paul Stevens with 59.58%.

The host does not pay to play on that day.

If the host does not play their next visit is free.

The Director does not pay, however their partner is required to pay.
