RealBridge Player Notes

If you are unfamiliar with playing on RealBridge, it is strongly recommended that club members read the RealBridge Players’ Guide at https://realbridge.online/player-guide-quick-start-for-new-players.html.

Before the session, it is always good to test your PC’s camera and microphone. This can be done at https://play.realbridge.online/camera.html.

All club members will receive an e-mail message containing a link for the next session. Clicking on the link will take you to the log-in page in which you need to supply your name and EBU number before logging in. Players will be able to log in between 6.50pm and 7.20pm. After 7.20pm, players might be admitted to the session, at the Director’s discretion, if there is a half-table.

The first screen enables a player to select a seat at a table. If your partner is already seated, select the opposite seat.

This is all you need to do until the session starts and you are presented with bidding boxes.

The displayed time per round is for information purposes only. The current hand will not be automatically removed until the next round. If a table gets badly behind, the Director can and will remove a board.

The system moves players. Players must not move manually.

UNDO’s

The EBU guidance is that UNDOs are allowed in the auction for genuine ‘misclicks’ – a ‘misclick’ corresponds to a ‘mechanical error’. There are no UNDOs in the play, except in cases of misinformation, when the Director must be called to consider the request.

In online bridge, mis-clicks are easily made. Therefore, players are strongly recommended to use the “Two taps” option in “Settings”.  With “Two taps”, the first tap selects the card, the second confirms it. Whilst in “Settings”, consider selecting “Simplified cards”, which are schematic and have larger symbols.

ALERTS

The standard way of alerting in RealBridge is as in face-to-face bridge. When your partner makes a conventional bid, you click your alert card. The Alert card will briefly be displayed against partner's bid. Partner's bidding card will change colour to indicate that it has been alerted.

Explanations are as in face-to-face bridge too. An opponent asks you what the bid means by speaking, and you explain by speaking.

Your Directors

If you require assistance, your Directors are:

Bob Perrin 01628 474862.

Paul Dolphin 01628 637897.
