Correcting Scoring Errors
Correcting Scoring Errors

When scoring with the Bridgemates all four players are responsible for agreeing the contract and checking the number of tricks achieved. East/West should check the result again when it is displayed on the screen of the Bridgemate. If an error is suspected after the result has been entered and agreed, the Scorer should be called to the table and he/she will find the board in question and agree the result again. It is always best to rectify the scoring error immediately but it is possible to check with the Scorer during the tea break or at the end of the session.

BABC have agreed a “Correction Period” which expires 30 minutes from the results appearing on the screen at the club. If all parties involved agree that an error has occurred it can be corrected before the results are sent to the website and the EBU.

If a scoring error is suspected when the results are viewed on the website i.e. after the Correction Period. BABC will apply the following EBU Law 79 C 2

“Regulations may provide for circumstances in which a scoring error may be corrected after expiry of the Correction Period if the Director and the Tournament Organizer are both satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that the record is wrong.”

A clear explanation of the error, agreed by both pairs, must be given to the Scorer. The time allowed to request an amendment will be the interval between the Bookham Sessions i.e Monday to Thursday or Thursday to Monday. A correction will be made at the  Scorer’s convenience. Should there by any dispute or doubt the record will not be changed.

Please note the BABC Scorers are volunteers and rely on the correct results being entered into the Bridgemate. They will not become involved in any discussions concerning the incorrectly recorded score.
