Bridge with Tea and Cake |

The first of the new season of Bridge with tea and cakes events took place on Sunday 13th October 2019. Thirty two member participated and were treated to a feast of calories at the interval, strawberry tarts, meringues and lemon drizzle cake to name a few. The prize winners were, N/S Wendy Blyth & Vanessa Openshaw, E/W Rona Egan & Brian Perry and following handicap adjustment N/S Angela Lohan & Ian Gibson, E/W Loraine & Trevor Corner (pictured above). This will be a regular event over the winter months and a great way to spend a cold and wet Sunday afternoon.

Charity Event |
On the afternoon of Thursday 26th September the club held a charity event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. Many thanks to those who donated so generously. Also a big thank you to those members, all "bake off "contenders, who provided a splendid array of cakes. The event was attended by 36 players and raised £260 for the charity.

Spring Ladder 2019 |
Congratulations to Paul Evans who has won the Spring Ladder 2019 for the best 8 Tuesday Evening duplicate performances over 11 weeks (Tue 5 Feb 19 ro Tue 16 Apr 19). He won with an average of 60.09%. EBED Simultaneous Pairs - Thursday 16th May |
Bolton Bridge Club held a session of the EBED Spring Simultaneous Pairs event on Thursday 16th May starting at 7:25pm. The local event winners were Stuart Norris and Rod Greenhalgh (65.48%) followed by Paul Evans & Sue Hyman (61.90%) . However, the National Ranks are somewhat different with Paul & Sue lying 3rd on 66.45% and Stuart & Rod lying 73rd on 57.31%.

EBU Honours Austin Barnes |
 Austin Barnes, the Past President of the club, has been presented the Dimmie Flemming Award by the EBU. This is in recognition of his significant and substantial service to Bridge administration in Lancashire. The award was presented to Austin by the Chairman of the Lancashire County Bridge Association, Brian Irlam.
