Obituary

Kay Lunney   We regret to say that Kay passed away on 8th September, 2022.  Kay was a good bridge player, very sociable, who ever had a demure smile.

Patricia Byrne  We have learned with great regret of the passing, on 4th September, 2022, of long-time and beloved member, Patricia.  We offer sincere sympathy to her family.  Patricia was always a formidable and most courteous opponent.

Hilda Haugh   We have learned with great regret of the passing on 22 August 2022 of Hilda Haugh.  We offer to her husband, John, all the family and Jean Murray, her long-time friend and bridge partner, profound sympathy on Hilda’s passing.  Hilda was always a most gracious and competent bridge player.

Eddie Cawley - A Tribute

Eddie Cawley - a tribute.   Eddie Cawley was at the heart of BlackRock Bridge Club for over 20 years. He and his wife Marie also took a central role over the years in maintaining social contact with members of the club.  The Covid pandemic saw the cessation of normal bridge in March 2020.  Eddie moved bridge online in the summer of 2020 and then took on another group (Guardian Angels) which play on Tuesdays and then took a further step with a totally new Thursday session.  Eddie had responsibility for the club website which he managed diligently for many years.  Sadly Eddie became terminally ill in the summer of 2021 and died on 16th October. We take this opportunity of paying a fulsome tribute to the work done by Eddie for our own local BBC over many years and offer renewed and heartfelt sympathy to Marie and all of the Cawley family on Eddie's passing.  Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.  This new website is dedicated to Eddie’s memory.
