The Northern Bridge League is an all play all teams of eight competition held over four Saturdays in the summer months between County Bridge Associations of Northern England & Northern Wales.

This year, Paul Hepworth & John Brearley represented Lancashire in two of the four matches and Dagmar Fazackerley in one for the A division. Paul & his partner Richard Bentley were awarded the Steve Haley Cup as the highest scoring pair in their matches. Dagmar Fazackerley, Brian Ripley & Barrie Newall played in one match for the B division, Pauline Holden & Robin Atkinson in one for the C division.

Paul Hepworth & John Brearley, playing with their respective partners Richard Bentley & Ross Shine, were again selected to represent Lancashire in the qualifying round of the Tollemache, the national inter-county teams of eight competition. Sadly, Lancashire did not qualify for the final this year.

Dave Pendlebury, playing this year with Ken Renno, again captained the team of ten pairs from various Lancashire clubs in the annual Lancashire/Cumbria match which was held in Barrow in August. Other team members from Blackburn were Pauline Holden & Robin Atkinson, Barrie & Julia Newall. Robin & Pauline had an excellent plus score of 35, Dave & Ken a very good plus 25, Barrie & Julia were plus 12. Sadly,Lancashire lost overall by 5 Imps.
