MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL GENERAL M EETING OF BLABY BRIDGE CLUB HELD ON 23^RD APRIL 2013

MINUTES OF 66^th ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING These were accepted as a true record and signed by the Chairman.

MATTERS ARISING There were no matters arising not already covered by the agenda.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT The Chairman remembered Joy Hipkins and Sylvia Horn who had been unable to come to the club for some time due to long term ill health and to Pat Beasley, recovering from an operation also Phil Dalloway who was reported to be a little better. He also reminded the meeting of those members who had died during the last year namely: Tony Payne, Wyn Stocker and Chris Saunders, all sadly missed.

He highlighted the successes of members during the past year:-

TREASURER’S REPORT The Treasurer presented the balance sheet and reported a break even position with regard to expenditure/income. Expenditure had been on stationery, 4 new tables, mugs and boards – bidding boxes would need to be replaced in the near future. Membership was down by about 9. Two lots of prize money for the Bridge weekend were showing in the last year due to the dates of the holidays. Mary thanked Henry Cooklin for auditing the accounts. It was proposed by Sandy Blades and seconded by Roy Pennington to accept the accounts.

The Treasurer proposed to keep all table monies and subscriptions at the same level with the proviso that there may be an increase in the summer table money if a new venue proves more expensive. Acceptance of this was proposed by Henry Cooklin and seconded by Angie Soloffe.

TEAM CAPTAINS’ REPORTS Peter Nuttall reported that he was sad that two of our three teams were relegated this year but that the A team had been champions of Division 2 and were promoted. He thanked all players.

John Arnold reported that the B team had been relegated by the very narrow margin of 1 imp. He thanked all players who had turned out for the team and Neil for his support on match nights particularly as he was also running the C team. This is his last year as B team captain.

Neil Beasley sent an email thanking all the members of the C team.

The Chairman reported that some members were no longer able to play for teams and asked that anyone interested in playing for the teams in the coming season should contact a member of the Committee.

CLUB EVENTS The Secretary reported that 46 members had had a very successful weekend at Cheltenham Park Hotel in March despite the snowy weather. She informed the members that Chris Bancroft would be organising the weekend next year. Chris reported that he had been looking at a hotel in Ashbourne in early April and would shortly be viewing the premises.

John Arnold reported that the A and C teams would each be entering a team in the Samani Salver.
