I was born in North Shields in 1964, but moved south on the day of decimalization and have been a Home Counties person ever since. It was only after buying my first home in Borehamwood that I started playing duplicate regularly at the “Owl and PussyCat” in Wood Green then at Welwyn and at Watford, where I'm still a member today. Since that time my county bridge affiliation has always remained with Hertfordshire CBA, for which I was Treasurer and President in the noughties.
I used to work in Asia and then finally in Moscow for six years until 2010 (without any competitive bridge as a diversion). I then worked for EBED and the EBU until 2020, where I ran the TD training program for club and county directors. These days I direct for the EBU as well as Somerset, Wiltshire and Surrey along with various clubs all online. As for face to face bridge - I play, teach and direct primarily at Richmond BC these days. If you bump into me at the bridge table, do say hello.

Gary Conrad |
Gary has been hosting bridge events for over 15 years , working with both Bernard and his father and is well known to many of Bernards loyal clients.
He is a qualified EBU director, delighted to help bridge players up their game, he is completely approachable and stands ready to put any nervous players at ease, and his priority is that everyone enjoys themselves during their events. You will rarely encounter Gary without a wide smile and welcome for every guest.

I am 70 years old and retired, of course, from the world of IT with Thames Water and IBM. I have been married for coming up 50 years and have three grown up children and five grand children. I started playing bridge at 15 at school and have played off an on since when work and family allowed. My rank is Premier National Master. I have been directing at club and county level for many years and recently joined the EBU panel of directors.
