Club Background

Berkhamsted Bowls Club was formed in 1985 and Berkhamsted Bowls Bridge Club (BBBC) soon followed as a "club within a club", both as a fund raiser for the Bowls Club and to provide another social outlet for members. Members of the Bowls Club are entitled to free membership of BBBC as part of their Bowls Club subscription. Non Bowls Club members pay an annual subscription to belong to BBBC and all players pay table money.

BBBC has proved very popular over the years and restrictions on membership numbers have had to be applied (currently 80) as we have space for 18 tables. BBBC is a members club but visiting pairs are welcome if vacant tables exist; only rarely have visitors been unable to be accommodated but the possibility does exist.

Bridge at BBBC is of a good standard and it is played in a friendly atmosphere; it is not for beginners. The Bowls Club hosts the TABIC (Tring and Berkhamsted Improvers Bridge Club) on a Monday to which those who know the basics of the game are invited (click here to see the TABIC website).

BBBC is not affiliated to the EBU.

Refreshments are provided on a "help yourself" basis from the kitchen to enhance the morning's enjoyment.

Further information can be obtained from the BBBC Lead DirectorDerek Connelly, by email at or phone (01442 890322).
