IMPORTANT UPDATE!  2025 Ashes Cancelled!

From the Ballarat website.. "The Ballarat Bendigo Ashes event scheduled for the 29th March, 2025 has been cancelled for 2025 because the Bendigo Bridge Club had attendance issues as well as being unable to register sufficient participants."  Apologies for the invconvenience to those who had registered and made plans for the Saturday.

Vale Ron Wescott

It is with deep sadness that we advise that Ron passed away early on Wednesday morning, 12th March, having lost his battle against multiple cancers. Ron's partner, Cheryl, advises that, at the end, he went quickly and peacefully.

Ron will be remembered as a friendly, skillful and knowledgeable player and as director of many of our Friday sessions. Less well known are his behind-the-scenes services to the club as a member of the Match Sub-committee, as one of our deal file organisers, and as our diligent Masterpoint Secretary.

A gathering to celebrate Ron's life will be held at 1030 am on March 28 at Buda House, 42 Hunter Street, Castlemaine.

Our thoughts are with Cheryl and family. He will be sadly missed.

2025 Bendigo Congress

Congress is not far away and we always have great turnout for this event.  Save the date for the weekend May 24th-25th and make sure you lock in for a partner for the pairs (24th) and 2 partnerships for the teams (25th).  More details on registration and price to come soon.  Venue will be Club Court precinct in Strathfieldsaye.  There will be full catering morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.  If you want to invite your out of town friends the club has corporate rates at the All Seasons Hotel, McIvor Road, Strathdale and transport will be organised between the two venues.

2019 News
Whoo Hoo the Ashes return home in 2019!
Whoo Hoo the Ashes return home in 2019!

2019 sees the Ashes return home to Bendigo once more.  Our heroes, Sue Napier and Margaret Smart can't contain the smiles at their triumph.

Ballarat were wonderful hosts as usual and were very galant in defeat,  The Ashes has this traditional rivalry, but the day is all about meeting our long time friends at Ballarat and enjoying the day.

This tradition goes back to the 1990's and is a highlight of our calendar each March.

Put March in your calendar as a day not to be missed each year if you have not experienced this day of fun and fellowship across the bridge table.

Another successful year for our club, celebrated at the Schweppes Centre

he club Christmas function and awards presentation was celebrated at the Schweppes Centre in 2019. Over 100 people were present for a most enjoyable afternoon.

Once lunch was enjoyed and presentations of awards made a large contingent settled down to a social game of bridge organised by Lorraine Griffiths.

Special thanks to Sue Napier for photos of this event.
