Beauchief Bridge Club

YCBA Simultaneous Pairs Competitions

On three occasions each year the Yorkshire Contract Bridge Association organises a competition, entry to which is open to all Clubs in the County. YCBA specifies a set of deals to be played in a Duplicate Pairs session at all participating clubs on the designated day.

Results from our club are published as usual on this website.  In addition, our results are submitted to the Yorkshire Match Secretary who then combines them with those from other participating Clubs to determine a county-wide rank order, which will be published on the YCBA website.  YCBA awards cash prizes to the top five pairs and local Master Points are awarded to the top third of the entrant pairs.

An important feature of a Sim Pairs is that it provides players with an opportunity for feedback on their playing strengths and weaknesses. YCBA commissions an expert player to write a commentary on each of the deals and a booklet with these commentaries is provided for players at the end of the event.  Additionally, the hand records will be displayed on our website and players can use the BridgeWebs Play it Again feature to see what they did right (or wrong).
