Below is the official notice from RealBridge on the use of equipment.  However, some players have found that iPads and tablets make for a less enjoyable experience due to the small screen size.  If you do use a tablet, the bigger the screen the better.  We strongly recommend the use of a laptop or PC where possible.  If you are using Apple, the Chrome browser works better with RealBridge than Safari.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PLAY ON REALBRIDGE

You do not need to download any special app to play on RealBridge. It's all Internet based.

EQUIPMENT

To gain most benefit from RealBridge, your computer should be equipped with a camera (webcam) and microphone. If your computer doesn't have these features, a USB plug-in camera can be purchased from Amazon for as little as £20. It is possible to play without a camera or microphone but you would lose the ability to communicate with other players other than by text, and you will miss out on much of the RealBridge experience.

RealBridge runs on any laptop, desktop computer or tablet that supports video calling from a web browser. Ipads older than 2015 won't work.

On Windows or linux PC, Apple macOS or Android tablet you can use any modern browser, such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. (Note: older versions of Edge and Internet Explorer do not work.)

On an Apple iPad you must use the Safari browser.

It is possible to use a large screen tablet (10 inch recommended) but a smartphone will have too small a screen. A computer or laptop with a full sized monitor is by far the best choice.

WHAT YOU NEED TO GET ACCESS TO THE EVENT ON THE DAY

RealBridge is just like playing "live" at the club. You alert your partner's bids, not your own. If partner makes an announcable bid, like 1NT, you announce by speaking just as you would at the club. Questions? Just ask. It really is just like club bridge. Forget all those self alerting rules you learned for BBO or BCL.

Entry into a RealBridge event is made via a web link that will be emailed to all registered participants after 2.00 PM on the Friday before the event.

Very Important: You will need your EBU number to hand when you join the event.

The first thing you will see on joining the event is a sign-on form. You should enter both your given name and surname in the Full Name box and your EBU number in the ID number box.

If you haven't used RealBridge before, it is strongly recommended that you read our How to Play on RealBridge Guide Click Here for Guide
