Bank Holidays

No Bridge on Bank Holidays

The only possible exception is the Spring Bank Holiday on the last Monday in May.

Sometimes its a yes, sometimes a no. It all depends on how players vote as the date approaches.

The default is no bridge. Should bridge on that date be planned, there will be a very obvious notice to that effect.

Welcome to Bath City Bridge Club
Covid-19 Club Closure
Coronavirus: club closure

Following the Prime Minister's announcement on the afternoon of Monday 16 March that all non-essential contact with others must be avoided, it has been decided that Bath City Bridge Club will close with immediate effect until further notice.

We're sorry for any inconvenience caused, and hope to resume normal service as soon as possible.

With best wishes

Peter Blackwood and Peter Ellington

On-line Bridge

Bridge Club Live

Bath City Bridge Club is now registered as a club on the on-line bridge playing app called Bridge Club Live (BCL).  If you are a member of Bath City Bridge Club you can play bridge with a partner against other members of the club on-line, from home, and you will be able to see your results as compared to other pairs in this club. More information about how and when the club will meet to play each other will be put up on this site in due course.

To use this facility you need to sign up with Bridge Club Live.

To do this you should:

  • You should register as a member with BCL at the following web address : www.bridgeclublive.com  - you can do this by clicking here .  You can join as a full member on the BCL site by use of the tabs on the Home Page: Click on Home page>Subscriptions>Price List or Home Page>Subscriptions>Buy/Renew Membership.  You can take out a monthly, quarterly or annual membership.
  • Once you are a full member of BCL you can register yourself as a F2F (face to face) member of the Bath City Bridge Club by clicking Home Page>Members>Clubs

When you are signed up you can log on to the site at www.bridgeclublive.com to begin to learn how to play bridge on the site and to join others playing bridge.

We meet each Monday at 1.30pm to play Teams of Four matches  These are organised by email by Peter Blackwood.  We are also arranging occasional matches on a Thursday morning against other clubs.

We have applied to have our own F2F virtual club session on a Monday from 12.00 to 15.00 in the winter (GMT) and from 1.00 to 16.00 in the summer (BST) which will allow us to play duplicate bridge sessions for BCBC members only.  BCL are currently running trials and hope to provide this facility shortly.  Further news of this in due course.

New Players Welcome

If you are new to Bath, or just want to play duplicate bridge in a city center venue, please come along. Monday afternoon bridge at The Museum Of Bath At Work on Julian Rd. is well established.

The Musem is an atmospheric venue, the players are competitive, but there is a very social ambience. There is a break with freshly made tea or coffee & biscuits.  The hands are computer dealt, the scoring is via tabletop bridgemates, and the results and hands are on the web shortly after play finishes.

Play starts at 1.45pm so please arrive at least 10 minutes earlier.

You do need a partner, but if you don't have one this can usually be arranged. Just send a text to Peter Blackwood on 07767624637.

If you want to discuss anything ahead of your first session you can ring Peter Blackwood.
