Club Matches

MCC v Athenaeum 3 October 2024
Our first match of the 2024-2025 season was at Lord's, never a happy hunting ground for Athenaeum bridge players. Our MCC hosts, who entertained us well,  had a comfortable lead at half-time. Despite a second half recovery we could not prevent the home team winning by 11 IMPs. We were represented by John Neilson and Nita Wheeler, Catherine Rice-Evans and RexGoad, Bill Shanahan and Michael Oppenheimer and James Cooper and Geoff Lloyd

Pivot Teams 10 December 2024
Our annual pre-Christmas Pivot Teams event  attracted a full complement of eleven teams. Unfortunately, while we were enjoying a good dinner, a group of gremlins attacked our TD's computer causing a software malfunction which even Gitte was unable to correct. Postprandial scores had to be entered manually and Gitte had to work hard to come up with final results based on  a hybrid of computer-entered and paper and pencil scores. The winners, and probably the pre-tournament favourites, were the Oxford and Cambridge team of Philip Meats, Gary Stevens, Malcolm McIvor and Andrea Geser. Congratulations to them. We hope they enjoy their prizes which could not be awarded on the night.
