A BRIEF HISTORY

INTRODUCTION

The following pages give a brief history of Ashby Bridge Club since it was started in 1967.  It is interesting to note that many of the issues that we face now (slow play, a venue that is not ideal, etc.) have occurred ever since the beginning of Ashby Bridge Club.  This history has been put together by Pat Dunham and then edited by George Strang.  Thanks are also due to Derek Marshall for his suggestions and improvements.

As you will see, there is very little information for many of the years.  We think the reason for this is that members were much more interested in playing bridge than keeping comprehensive notes that would one day be used as an archive.  Therefore, if there is any information that you have that should be added we would be very pleased to receive it.  Also where our information is wrong we would be very pleased to correct it.
