On the 7th December 1995 this hand was dealt and was chosen as hand of the week.

A slam can be made in Diamonds, Heards and No Trumps,

But do you bid it?

How the Bidding Went with Catherine and Graham

North East South West
Past 2 (1) Pass 3NT (2)
Pass Pass Pass

1 - Weak two

2 - Should have bid 2NT as a conventional strong enquiry with a reply of 3  showing Heart feature and top range, the up to west to bid 6  or NT

North East South West

Another pair Bid

2 ♠ (1) Pass Pass 2NT (2)
Pass 3  Pass Pass (3)
Pass

1 - Weak 2

2 - Could have Doubled

3 - At least bid game.

Most hands went Pass - Pass - Pass - 2NT Pass 3NT. West with 6 Diamonds, could have been bold and bid 5♦ (inviting slam)  knowing the strengh of the 2NT.
