Congratulations to North/South winners Sue Cottrell & Sheena Wood (66.90%) and East/West winners John Hutchings & Brian Cooper (56.71%) on claiming the trophies in year two of the event.

Nine full tables played 27 boards 'interrupted' by an excellent afternoon tea provided by Linda and David Philip son of the Hen field Hall. The competition was always going to be fierce but proved particularly so for East/West with only 3 match points separating the first three places.

Initial estimates suggest the money raised for St Peter & St James Hospice is around £220, which will be doubled up by a matched donation from the Stander Charitable Foundation.

Many thanks to those who played and we look forward to next years event having even greater support.

Congratulations to Roger Stevens, Rita Lyford, Brian Spears & Jack Vidler (Steyning & Storrington) - pictured left - on winning the first Autumn Teams event and to Sheena Wood, Hedy Friend, Eric & Peggie Pool (Keymer) on taking the non-expert trophy.

Despite the disappointing number of teams, those playing enjoyed the event, playing 28 boards over the afternoon. It is hoped that the 2011 event will be better supported.

We are delighted to confirm that the final total raised for the hospice is £550, so, with the matched contribution from Abbey National Charitable Trust, you have raised a grand total of £1100! An enormous thank you to everyone who supported the event.

Congratulations to the winners of this, the first Spring Pairs for the Beryl Pitman Memorial Trophies. Sixteen tables were in play, 25% of the clubs' membership and, according to reports a good time was had by all! Trophies were presented by Mo Etherington, a long time personal friend of Beryl, to winners for North/South and East/West.

North/South winners with a magnificent 70.14% were Brian Spears & Roger Stevens Storrington & Steyning) runners up with a commendable 61.53% were Joan Mason & Hilary Broadhurst (Partridge Green)

East/West scores were much closer - the winners running out with 58.06% were Gwen & Peter Knight (Keymer) and a close second with 57.78% were Hortense Lott & Alan Norburn (Keymer)

A proper afternoon tea was provided by Linda & David Philipson of The Henfield Hall and the whole event was played in a relaxed but (as you can see) competitive atmosphere.
