Doug Couchman
Doug Couchman is a part-time professional bridge player and teacher. He moved to Tucson in 2019 and since then has become one of the best known bridge teachers in the area. He also plays in every NABC (when they’re running) and as many regional tournaments as possible.
While winning events is fun, Doug’s favorite bridge moments are when he helps others. His proudest moment this year was when his partner achieved life master status at the Tucson Regional.
Doug has been conducting two play-and-learn sessions per week and will now also be teaching some of Adobe’s Tuesday classes. His goal for all teaching is to make the lessons accessible even to beginners, but useful at more advanced levels. “I will never teach you anything that won’t work in the A/X pairs.”
Doug is Chairman of the ACBL’s Board of Governors, is an alternate to the Board of Directors, and is Chair of the ACBL’s Masterpoint Committee, the group that determines how master points are calculated.
In Doug’s non-bridge life he is a private tutor, focusing on graduate admission exams (the LSAT, MCAT, GMAT, and GRE).
