In line with the Government advice on reopening society, the CBAI have finally received approval for a return to the table for bridge players.
Many of you have been playing online and although it has kept us all going, most of us miss the “Real Thing” of holding cards in your hands and interacting with your partner and opponents.
Now that Covid restrictions have been relaxed, our club is now reopened with 2 games in the Wishing Well Lounge Bar, starting at 10.00am on Monday and Tuesday, for whoever wishes to play. The online games will still be available, starting at the usual time of 9.45am. (Monday on BBO and Tuesday on RealBridge)
CBAI requirements for a safe return to live bridge are:
All players must be fully vaccinated, presenting their Covid certificates for the first attendance.
All players must be members of each club they play in.
Numbers limited to less than 100
Face masks are mandatory while playing and when moving around.
Regular sanitising of hands is advised between rounds
East/West should carry their bidding boxes from table to table so that each player handles only one bidding box throughout the competition.
Boards and score sheets to be handled only by Tournament Director or North.
Players should avoid congregating
Players should bring the correct amount of table money so that no change has to be given.
The back bar will be able to accommodate 10 tables, while still observing safe social distancing. Many of the small tables have been removed to accommodate this. Hand sanitising units are provided throughout the premises and there is a dedicated member of staff operating a cleaning and sanitising programme. As in pre-Covid days, teas/coffees will be served to the tables.
Please arrive early to ensure we are ready for a prompt start at 10.00am. Car parking will be available as before.
Only fully vaccinated club members will be allowed to play and membership renewal is due from the beginning of September The annual subscription is €25 (including CBAI affiliation fees)
There will be a Beginners course (11.00am -1.00pm.) and a Refreshers course (1.30-3.30pm) both on Thursdays in the Newtownpark Parish Pastoral Centre starting September 30th. For details and to register, please contact me.
I'm looking forward to seeing as many of you as feel safe to return, on Monday or Tuesday. If not, see you online in the meantime.
