Well Done, Everyone!

Carol McConnell, active Unit member and extraordinary volunteer, passed away on October 1st, following a courageous battle with cancer. After retiring from a distinguished elementary teaching career, Carol embraced duplicate bridge with the same enthusiasm. An active player in Duncan Bridge Center's limited games, Carol's positive attitude and pleasant personality, coupled with her beautiful smile made her a much sought after partner at the tables. A talented seamstress, Carol hand made banquet-size cloths for  the tables used at Unit games, Sectionals and Regional events for a decade. Along with her close friend, Carol Wilkinson, the Carols were the face of the 299er events at the Palm Springs Regional. Carol was the must-have volunteer for Sectional Chairs who knew they could count on her to get the job done and with a smile. Bridge lessons at Carol's are remembered fondly by her friends and partners as they would gather together to conquer the intricacies of the game she loved. Carol is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Greg Williams, and friends throughout the Coachella Valley.
