Automatic External Defibrillator

The Bridge Center has an AED or Automatic External Defibrillator. This life-saving device is located on the wall just inside the main entrance.    We also have a teaching kit including a video and instructions.  This kit is on the bottom shelf of the bookcase.  I will be happy to demonstrate the AED and other aspects of resuscitation.  When you see me at the Bridge Center, just ask or you can e-mail.

Message from the New Bridge Center Chairman

For those who have not heard, I have ascended to the position of Bridge Center board chairman upon the passing of Jim Vroom.  I wanted to introduce myself to you and give you the latest Bridge Center (BC) news.  I wish to bring a fresh attitude and approach to managing the BC, but I would welcome your input on what the BC can do to be a more inviting to spend your time and achieve your goals in bridge.  If you have an issue on which you wish to weigh in, please contact me by e-mail at:  hirscht1@gmail.com or at (757)436-2439 and let us discuss it.  Or pigeonhole me at a game.

I know there is interest in reviving a non-life master (NLM) schedule and here is what is currently being done (hopefully we can build on this even more.   Anne Duty has her Friday game where she has stated that she will have a separate NLM section any time she has 3 or more tables.  I think we have achieved the raw numbers for that but many of the NLMs were paired with life masters making them ineligible for the separate section.  So please consider making an effort to attend that day to get a NLM game going.  Marshall Hutto would like to revive Beth Brown’s Monday morning game if he gets enough participation.  If you are interested in getting the Monday NLM game going again, please contact Marshall directly at marshall.hutto@gmail.com or (757)348-2797 to express your interest.  This used to be a big game; it could be again.  Jennifer Christman offered to create a NLM section at her Thursday game if 3 or more tables were present.  She never achieved that number but would be willing to do a separate section if the participation is there.  So the potential for multiple games is there if people come out.

Barbara Duer has stepped in to operate the Wednesday game.  Can’t find a partner, show up anyway – Barb will match you with any other singles and she will play with any “singles” that couldn’t be paired up.  So if you don’t have a regular partner, this may be the opportunity to find one – it’s how I started.

In summary, there is a live game every weekday morning at 10:15 and a Sunday Unit game at 1:30.  Come to the Bridge Center to enjoy the spirit and camaraderie of live bridge with your friends.

I am committed to providing you the best possible experience at the Bridge Center.

Respectfully,

Tom Hirsch
