The North American Pairs (NAP) is a set of annual North American championships for pairs contested over two days at the spring ACBL NABC. The events are restricted to pairs that have qualified through local, regional and district levels within their ACBL Districts. Open Championship Flight is open to all players. No player on a flight A team can have more than 6,000 masterpoints. No player on a flight B team can have more than 3,000 masterpoints. No player on a flight C team can have more than 750 masterpoints, or be a Life Master.

District 10 NAP Conditions of Contest 2026-2027

We played in qualifying games all summer long, both fact-to-face and on-line.  Most of those who played did, in fact, qualify. So, now it is time to consider playing in the District 10 Championship Finals. There are GOLD and RED points on the line in each flight. Plus, you compete for the chance to represent our district in the National finals of your flight.

ACBL has expanded North American Pairs to four flights

The NAP's are North American championships that begin at the grass roots level.  Qualifying games were held both in face-to-face and on-line clubs in June, July, and August.  You probably qualified to play in one or more flights in our District finals that will determine our representatives to the finals, which will be contested at the North American Bridge Championships in Dallas in March.

The four flights:

• Flight C - Players with fewer than 750 masterpoints (MPs) who are not Life Masters

• Flight B - Players with fewer than 3000 MPs

• Flight A - Players with fewer than 6000 MPs

• Championship Flight - Open to any player 

Things you need to know:

• Your flight eligibility depends on your masterpoint total at the first of June. So, no rank change since then affects your flight in the current event.

• No player is eligible for any limited flight who had more MPs than the upper level of that flight. To be eligible for a given flight, neither member of a partnership can exceed the upper limit of the flight in which they are competing

• You may be eligible for multiple flights.  For example, a player with 558 MPs may be eligible to play in any of the flights; a player with 2593 MPs may be eligible for all flights other than Flight C. If possible and desired, you may play in two different flights at the District championship level.

• To play in the District championship, you must have qualified by playing in the NAP games held both face-to-face or on-line in June, July, and August.

• Qualifiers have done so individually, not as a pair. You do not have to play in the district finals with someone you qualified playing with.

• There is a list of qualifiers on the ACBL web site, but it is difficult to find and harder to read.  If you are interested in playing in the District 10 finals, you may simply pre-register and the district coordinator, Sherrie Goodman, will check that you and your partner are qualified. District Finals & Pre-Registration

• The district finals will be two-session events and will be contested on two dates.

• Championship Flight and Flight B - Saturday, October 3, 2026

• Flights A & C - Saturday, November 7, 2026

• In the event the level of participation in any flight is more than 30 pairs, the field will be cut to a Sunday final, which will require an additional entry fee for the participants.

• If you are qualified in multiple flights, you may elect to participate on both weekends.

• Events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM; the second session will begin after a required break. (2 hours more or less)

• Pre-registration to participate is required.  To do so, send an email to the District 10 coordinator, Sherrie Goodman at lbalbcetal@gmail.com. 

• For the October 4 event, the registration process must be initiated by September 26.

• For the November 7 event, the registration process must be initiated by October 31.

• The email should include player names, ACBL numbers, and the flight(s) in which the players wish to play.

• Sherrie will determine if you are qualified to play.

• If qualified, Sherrie will provide you instructions for remitting payment in advance. Cost is $30 per person per day.

Playing on Real Bridge

If you are not yet familiar with playing on Real Bridge, setting up an account is easy. Just go to their website, RealBridge.online and follow the instructions you will find there. Sherrie Goodman can also help you. You should become familiar with the (simple and intuitive) mechanics of playing on Real Bridge prior to the day of your event. There are several ACBL pair games available each week in which you can play in to become familiar with the mechanics of playing on Real Bridge. (Sherrie can supply a list.)

Financial Support to Participate in the North American Finals

The financial support is administered and provided by ACBL.  In the past, the amounts provided have depended upon the placement of each pair in their district finals, with the most provided to the first-place pair. This should be approximately $700, $500 and $200 for the top three finishers, respectively.
