499er/NLM Tournament Results
Our 499er/NLM tournament is over, and while attendance was smaller than last year, it was a great success. We drew players from Baton Rouge, Houma, Shreveport, New Orleans and Prairieville, as well as many from the Acadiana region. Please join me in congratulating the overall winner, Mary Walker, who won 5.03 silver points. Right behind her was Shelba Branscum with 5.01 points. Both played all 6 games, but interestingly enough, Mary played with 4 different partners and Shelba 5.

NO PARTNER? NO PROBLEM!!!
The club has an extra player on hand for the Monday, Wednesday and Friday games in case someone needs a partner. So if your partner cancels at the last minute, or if you are not able to find a partner, come anyway. If you want to play and do not mind taking potluck, please come in by 10:15 and you are guaranteed to play.

BEGINNING BRIDGE LESSONS
The Club offers free intermediate bridge lessons on Tuesday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 at the Bridge Club, 4950 West Congress. Classes will study the 4th book in the ACBL Bridge Series, "Commonly Used Conventions", and practice what we learned in the first three books on bidding, play and defense. If you want a copy of the textbook, please contact Jean Kiesel at 337-258-9409 to order a copy. (It is recommended that you buy a copy; the Club does not have loaner copies of this book).
