2026 January Challenge - Wed 28th Jan
The day is designed as an inclusive event for all bridge players at the club. Our aim is to bring together what can sometimes feel like three separate groups—Monday morning, Wednesday morning, and Wednesday afternoon—so everyone can mix, connect, and build a stronger sense of community and shared aspiration.
21 boards (7 rounds of 3 boards) matching the familiar Monday morning rhythm for length and flow, however without assistance, will be played in the morning and afternoon.
Wednesday morning players can enjoy a more relaxed pace and lend support to those with less experience, while Wednesday afternoon regulars get a gentle introduction to a more competitive setting without the full intensity of duplicate. We’ll take a coffee break midway through the morning session to give first-time participants a moment to readjust and give everyone a chance to chat and catch up, keeping the atmosphere comfortable and social.
Some Wednesday morning players may feel the day doesn’t offer as much bridge as they’re used to. Others, especially those who haven’t played a full day before, might find it quite a lot.
The format aims for a “happy middle ground,” giving everyone enough bridge to enjoy without overwhelming newer or less frequent players.
