  X - IMPS Thursday Ladder

With the widespread use of computers in bridge scoring Butler method has been replaced by CROSS IMP scores.

For X- Imp scoring, each score is compared across the field with every other score on the same board. You score up in Imps with every other result achieved on the board, and the take the average of all those Imp scores.

This has the advantage of not discarding any valid score(s) in acheiving the final result, and fortunately, the computer handles all the calculations.

From MAY the scoring of X-Imps will be evey  Thursday.

Cross IMP Scoring

Compares your board score with every other score on the board to give a set of differences.

Converts each differences to IMPS

Averages these to give your IMP score for the board.

The AVERAGE is caclulated from the TOTAL IMPS divided by the number of unadjusted scores so as to get the correct adjustment for boards of differing numbers of score lines.
