Competition Rules & Results 2015

This page contains details on the club competititions and the rules.

 
 
  Victor Ludorum

This is an Individual event that runs from 1 January to 31 December each year.

The winner will be the player with the highest average percentage of their best 12 scores in match pointed pairs events on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings obtained with partners who are also members, but only the best two games to be allowed with any one partner.

  Club Pairs Matchpoints

The competition will run from January to December each year. Games for this Event will take place on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and scoring is by matchpoints. The winner will be the Pair that has the highest average of their best 5 scores during that time. Entry is automatic, just turn up on the 2nd Tuesday in the month and play. Each event will be a one winner movement. Members are allowed to enter with more than one partner.

  Club Pairs - X-IMPS

The competition will run from January to December each year. Games for this competition will take place on the 4th Tuesday of each month and scoring is by X - IMPs. The winnner will be the Pair that has the highest average of their best 5 scores during that time. Entry is automatic, just turn up on the 4th Tuesday in the month and play. Members are allowed to enter with more than one partnership.

  Tues X-IMPS : Individual Below Regional Master

The scoring of X-Imps will be every 4th Tuesday The Winner of the X-Imp Ladder will be the Member BELOW Rank of Regional Master with the Highest average of their best 6 IMP scores.

  Cantillon Cup - Monday Afternoon Pairs

The winners of the Cantillon Cup will be the Pair who achieve the highest average score over their best 20 Events played. This competition will run from January - December each year.

  Thursday Evening Ladder

Positional pairs based on a points system. 1 point is given for playing and another for scoring 50% or more; plus for a single-winner movement 1 point for 3rd place, 2 points for 2nd and 3 points for winning; for a two-winner movement 1 pt for 2nd place and 2 points for winning. The competition runs from the 1st January to the 31st December each year. The best non-regional master will receive a trophy. in the event of a tie, the trophy shall be awarded to the member who has played the fewest number of sessions.

  Gerry Anderson Cup - Friday Pairs - Below Regional Master

The winners of the Gerry Anderson Cup will be the pair with the highest average from the best 20 of their scores.  This competition will run from 1 Jan to 31 Dec each year and is only open to members below the rank of Regional Master as at 1 Jan.

  Equinox Handicap Pairs

These are handicap events played on the Fridays nearest to 20th March and the 22nd September. Handicaps are those calculated for the Teams League. The handicap for a partnership is the mean of the handicaps of each partner.

Each event will be scored as a one winner movement.

All Members are eligible to play with the winners being decided after application of their handicaps. Only one pair may win any one Event in the Calendar Year.

Masterpoints will be awarded for the normal club evening, but NOT for the Equinox Handicap.

LADIES PAIRS.

A 1 Session Event to be played on the nearest Sunday Evening to the AGM.  A "play all" I winner movement will be used.  Masterpoint will NOT be issued for this Event.

  Evening Slammer of The Year

The competition will run from January to December each year on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. Any partnership bidding and making a small slam will be awarded 1 point. Any partnership bidding and making a grand slam will be awarded 3 points. Points will be accumulated throughout the year and the Winner will be the player/players who have the highest total of points. In the event of a tie. the player having made the most GRAND SLAMS will be the winner.

  Afternoon Slammer of The Year

The competition will run from January to December each year on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Any partnership bidding and making a small slam will be awarded 1 point. Any partnership bidding and making a grand slam will be awarded 3 points. Points will be accumulated throughout the year and the Winner will be the player/players who have the highest total of points. In the event of a tie. the player having made the most GRAND SLAMS will be the winner.

  Best Improver

The winner will be the person whose average %age score during the period 1st April to 31st March exceeds their average %age score from the previous year by the greatest margin. The competition is based on scores achieved in Match Pointed pairs events on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings combined. There are 2 sections according to a players' starting percentage: (a) between 49% and 53%, (b) below 49%. To qualify, a player must be a paid up member of the club, have at least 20 scores during the course of the year and have had at least 10 scores during the course of the previous year. The winner will receive a Trophy.

  Monday Best Improver

The Rules for this competition are the same as for the 'Best Improver' above except that only 15 scores are required and 8 during the previous year.  Only scores achieved in Monday afternoon Pairs events count; there will only be one section, all players with a starting average below 54% will be eligible.
