Surprise Partner Teams

5th Thursday Event

Thursday 29th July will be another Teams night. Please come as a Pair as there will not be a standby available. Teams will be decided by a draw.

Pay to Play

Members at the AGM voted in favour of affiliating to the EBU with the majority in favour, none against and one dissension. The new Pay 2 Play rules came into effect on 1st April 2010.

You can view your details by going to the EBU website and logging in to the Member section. I suspect like me - most will have forgotten the password sent to you by the EBU. No worry - just enter your EBU number in the login page and select ' Password Forgotten'. The EBU will e-mail your password to you. Once logged in you can change the password to one you are likely to remember.

From April, all Master Points will be registered electronically. Any paper points issued before April 2010 can still be sent to the EBU for registration.

The P2P fee for each session of Bridge for this 'Bridge year' has been set at 29p. Your Committee has decided that this fee will be paid by the Club. Table money will remain at £1.00. This decision will be reviewed at the end of the year and a recommendation will be made to members at the AGM.

WELCOME TO THE NEW EBU.

Garden Cities Final

National Final of the Garden Cities Trophy

The Yeovil team (Rachael Brown, Frank Coltman, Peter Gurman, Donne Hoong, Colin Simcox, Mike Toft, Stewart Upton & Ray Walder) represented Somerset in the Final of the Garden Cities Trophy  at Solihull in June 2010.

The team did well in a really strong field and though they did not finish in the top 3, it was a great experience to play in this prestigious event.

This is the first time since the Somerset/Avon split that a Somerset team has made the National Final.

Well Done

Full result may be seen here :http://www.ebu.co.uk/results/2010January-July/GardenCities/GardenCities.htm

County Championship Pairs

Congratulations to the Yeovil pair Simon Oldham & Steve Fletcher who were just 'pipped' at the post in the Final of the County Championship Pairs event at Staplegrove on Saturday 24th April.

Simon & Steve won the 7 Table Howell Final session with a score of 62.05% but this event has a Carry Forward score from the qualifying session. Caroline Macpherson & Bill Rowe achieved a higher Carry Forward score and  therefore pushed Simon & Steve into 2nd place.

This was still an excellent achievement considering the quality of the field - so well done to them both.

The full result can be seen on the County Website: http://www.somersetbridge.org.uk/Results_Pairs.htm

Yeovil Swiss Teams

Congratulations to Rachael Brown's Team - Colin Simcox, Ray Walder, Marriane Lewin who won the Yeovil Swiss Teams at West Camel on Sunday 28 Mar 2010.

The number of entrants was a little disappointing - 15 Teams but this was probably due to the change of date. The 'Yeovil Tea Ladies' once again provided a hearty spread and the event was managed in his inimatable style by Mike M-Rogerson.

Well done to all the Teams and we hope you all enjoyed the day. Click Here for Full Result.

Congratulations are also due to Ray Walder & Marianne Lewin who won the County Mixed Pairs. Well Done.
