Events

Interspersed with the weekly duplicate pairs sessions are "special events", namely internal club competitions and sessions where the club participates in national simultaneous pairs competitions.
Players are asked to be in their seats by 7.20pm for each of these special events.

There will be one social evening and a general meeting, with normal duplicate bridge, following the gatherings. Both these evenings start at 7.00 pm.

There are also some non-events each year when the Day Centre where we play is closed or is being used for another function.

Playing Guidelines

All players are expected to obey the Laws of Duplicate Contract Bridge promulgated by the English Bridge Union and to observe the ethics of the game set out in the handbook of EBU Directives & Permitted Conventions (Blue Book).  Players unfamiliar with the Blue Book should note that it only restricts agreements between partners. Psychic or other irregular bids, or unusual plays, are legitimate ploys as long as they contain the same element of surprise for partner as for the opponents

Permitted Conventions. The Club permits Blue Book level L2.(Click  on the blue "PLAYING GUIDELINES bar above for  an extract from the relevant pages of The BlueBook) In addition the Multi 2 Diamond convention is permitted to be played.  Members playing this convention must inform their opponents that they are doing so and alert their bids accordingly.

Results. Each week's results will be displayed at the following session and will also be posted on the Club's website. Travellers and table slips will be available for scrutiny for one week after each session. Queries or disagreements with a score should be advised to the scorer within that period

A Director, even if playing, should be called when a problem of any sort occurs.
