Dates for your diary
Friday 31 May Fifth Friday event. This will be a charity evening when all the table money from the event will be donated to a charity.

The committee would like the members to choose the charity, though they do feel a local charity would perhaps be best. Nominations should be sent to Jean, preferably by email by Wednesday 29 May at the latest. Assuming there is more than one nomination, members who play on 31 May will be given the chance to vote for the one they would like to receive the donation.
Since start 2013

Special events
There will be a special bridge event whenever there is a Fifth Friday in the month and a mini-seminar before bridge every third Friday.
Club competitions
The trophies awarded by the club are summarised under trophy winners and the present status under competitions.

Windermere Duplicate Bridge Club meets at the Marchesi Centre, Holly Road, Windermere, LA23 2AF on Wednesday and Friday evenings starting at 7pm. We play duplicate bridge using pre-dealt hands and hand records are available.

Visitors are always most welcome.

Table money is £2.50 for members and £3.50 for visitors including tea/coffee and biscuits.

For more information please contact a member of the committee.

Need a partner?

We do not have a stand-by system. However, if you need a partner for a particular session please contact  Irene Gregory (015394 45224) or Ann Ainley-Walker (015394 42802) who will do their best to put you in touch with someone else who is looking for a partner.

On Holiday?
On Holiday?

Windermere Bridge Club is situated in the Lake District and we are delighted to welcome visitors to this lovely part of the world to join us for an evening's bridge.

Just turn up with your partner, or contact a member of the committee if you need more information.

Preparing for play
Please try to arrive by 6.45pm so that play can start promptly at 7.00pm. This gives the director time to organise the movement and prepare the tables. It is fully appreciated that unforeseen circumstances can make people late, and this is no problem at all if you let someone know that you will be coming so we can save you a seat. Many thanks.

Members' successes
Congratulations to:
Mike and Jean Patefield, playing with Philip Wraight and Dave Harrison, who were second in the Murray League final on 21 April.

David Strawbridge and John Farmer who were second in the Cumbria Swiss pairs, closely followed by Robin Rose, playing with Sam Norman, third.

Mike Patefield on winning the Westmorland Individual.
Club Competitions
The committee has reviewed the competition structure of the club and has decided to make two changes.
Firstly, the Peter Ford trophy, which was awarded for results between January and March, will henceforth be awarded for results in the Butler scored pairs that we play on the first Monday of each month throughout the year. Pairs will have to play at least six times, the best six results counting if a pair play more than six times. Peter Ford has approved this change.
For 2013 the trophy will be awarded to Robin Rose and John Maclachlan who have won it but then re-awarded for the results under the new arrangements at the end of the year.
Secondly, it has been decided that winners of the Friday quarterly ladder may not win it again for the three quarters following their victory.

Military Bridge 29 March
Military Bridge 29 March

Congratulations to John Ellwood and Jeremy Harris playing with Irene and Ray Gregory, pictured above, who won the Fifth Friday event on 29 March. This was Military Bridge with a fish and chip supper and an entertaining time was enjoyed by all.

Congratulations also to Mike and Jean Patefield who won the Friday ladder for January to March with an average of 60.77%, narrowly beating John Ellwood on 60.07% and Doris Hudson was 4th on 55.72%.
