Supervised Play sessions provide an introduction to bridge play and tactics.  Bid and play at your own pace with help from a teacher when you need.  Suitable for Students who have completed a few lessons on bidding and want to put what they have learnt into practice.  No movement and no recorded scores.

Supervised Duplicate sessions are aimed at those who have completed 3 to 4 terms of lessons, those coming back to bridge after a break and those who simply want to enjoy very relaxed and sociable duplicate bridge.  Help on the bidding is available from a teacher if wanted.  Duplicate movement with scores recorded on bridgemates.  No Master Points awarded.

Gentle Duplicate sessions are shorter in duration than our duplicate sessions but the speed of play is the same at 7 minutes per board.  Duplicate movement with Master Points.  Systems allowed are limited to WBC’s Green Card, so you don’t have to worry about defending against the Multi or Precision!  Ideal for players moving on from Supervised Duplicate and those who prefer a shorter session with simple systems.

Duplicate.  WBC’s Full Duplicate sessions are open to pairs of all standards.  24 boards are played in 3 hours (7 minutes per board).  Duplicate movement with Master Points.  The only system restrictions are EBU Level 4 and below.  All pairs are welcome at these sessions but if you arrive without a partner you should be at least an NGS grade that meets the minimum hosting level requirement.  (e.g. for all evening and Thursday afternoon sessions the minimum requirement for an individual arriving without a partner is NGS 7).  Directors have been instructed to turn away players not meeting this requirement.

Ploughman’s Duplicate.  One of our most popular and sociable sessions.  A wide selection of sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes are available to order for the break.  26 boards are played in 3½ hours including a short break for lunch.  Duplicate movement with Master Points.  The only system restrictions are EBU Level 4 and below.

WBC’s Green Card contains details of systems and conventions that are permitted at all sessions other than the Duplicate and Ploughman’s Duplicate sessions.  At the Duplicate sessions any conventions up to EBU Level 4 are permitted.  The Green Card is available to download from the website (see menu option on the left).  Paper copies are also available from the club house.
