The 2024 Spring NABC's are now history.  Several of our players attended and succeeded!  Julia Bomalaski captured 11.76 platinum in the Rockwell Mixed Pairs.  It is worth noting that Julia made it to the second day of a National Event which is no small feat.   Mike Heins scored 2.13 platinum in the same event. Monty and I did better than our predictions.  We scored 4.31 platinum points.  We still haven't made it to the second day of a national event, but hope springs eternal.

Nationals are filled with VERY good players and they are expensive.  Monty and I figured out that each of our platinum points EARNED at this year's Nationals cost about $500 per point.  So, why go?  Simple, how often do you get to sit down with multiple national title holders?  How often do you get to play in a room with over 100 tables? How often do you get to gauge where your game really is? How often do you get to meet new friends and form partnerships for future events?

This year Monty and I met a couple at the table from my hometown area of Seattle, Washington.  They stated that they had never won a platinum point and we cheekily invited them to play in the Jacoby Swiss with us and we would win some platinum.  They did and we did!  Best of all, we made new friends.

Ask Monty about my 3 club bid.  He is still shaking his head.
