Bank Holiday Mondays

There will be bridge on all bank holiday Mondays except at Easter and Christmas.
Warden Park Becomes a No Smoking Zone

Warden Park Academy has decided that all its buildings and grounds are now a no smoking zone and their insurance policy has been changed to reflect this. Smoking is therefore only permitted on the Broad Street side of the main school entrance gates
Thursday Afternoon Sessions

Thursday afternoons start at 1.30 pm. Table money is now £1.50 for members and £2.50 for visitors.
Education at WSBC

Please note that there is a new item under Teaching clarifying the relationship between the Club and the teaching operation.
 

Welcome to the West Sussex Bridge Club web site. The Club meets for duplicate pairs each Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoons (see Calendar). There is also a Basic Bridge (Level 2) session on Thursday evenings. Many Sussex and EBU events (e.g. simultaneous pairs) are also held here. The Club is situated in Cuckfield, near Haywards Heath in Mid Sussex (see "How to find us" in the "Information" section). The clubhouse is in the grounds of Warden Park Academy.

Whilst many who play in the club are very good players and the overall standard is quite high, the main objective is that everyone should enjoy playing bridge at West Sussex and that the atmosphere remains friendly throughout all sessions.
Autumn Competitions
Pairs League Series 2 - Started Wednesday October 5th and runs for 5 months on the 1st Wednesday of the month until February 2017.
 
Club Championship: Qualifying heat:   Wednesday November 16th 
  and Plate                   Final:                   Wednesday December 21st
 
Mince Pie Fun Event: Sunday December 18th starting at 2pm and finishing at 6pm
Wine, Mince Pies, Prizes and lots of Christmas jollity.

Convention Cards and Partnership Agreements

Whilst not making it compulsory, the Committee would like to encourage all partnerships to have an agreed convention card. You can use your own layout, fill in one of the blank formats to be found on the EBU website or use the simple form on the front page of the score card. The EBU website has some suggested convention cards for basic systems. Having a written partnership agreement obviously helps consistency in bidding and playing and also improving your bridge.
Thursday Evenings

The Thursday evening session is primarily intended for less experienced players and only Level 2 systems may be used. Full details of which conventions are not accepted can be viewed in the menu item called “Thursday Evening Guidelines”.

Well done to Vincent L'Estrange and Tony Harris who were runners-up. Thank you to everyone who took part and contributed. We raised an excellent £334 for the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Those Members who have given permission for their e-mail address to be used by the Club to keep them informed have  received a message explaining the "Find a Partner" facility and how to make use of it. If you do not receive these e-mails and wish to use the facility, please contact the Secretary or the WebMaster.

If you end up going home you will get a free play voucher!
