CHRISTMAS PARTY
Two years ago, they were taking their first bridge lessons learning how to count points and playing hands of minibridge. Last week-end (Sept 26-29) they went to Eastbourne to participate in one of Chris's bridge week-ends and they played over 100 hands of bridge over the 3-day break. Not only did they perform and compete commendably but even more importantly, they had a great time! Well done to Diana, Joan, Judith, Lorna and Laura!!
We are running 8 classes during the Autumn term and already over 100 students have joined for the term. Two of the classes are now full. In total we have 14 beginners, 65 improvers and 29 "season-ticket holders" in the 2 supervised play sessions. Classes are as follows:
Beginners
Improvers
Supervised Play
Experienced club players would be more suited to one of the many established bridge clubs in West London.
Enquiries should be addressed to chrisbonser@fsmail.net.
Chris Bonser has played duplicate bridge at the Brentham Club in Ealing for ten years where his regular partner is his wife, Rebecca. Chris is a firm believer that, whatever your standard of play, bridge is first and foremost a game to be enjoyed and he and his wife like an evening of social bridge with friends and a bottle of wine just as much as the club duplicate events.
Chris aims to bring this philosophy into his bridge teaching where classes are taught professionally (following the syllabus devised by the EBU) but in a relaxed and informal manner.
The picture was taken during Chris's recent holiday in Kenya when a year-old cheetah cub suddenly decided to climb on to the open roof of his safari vehicle
The Chiswick clubhouse is now greatly improved as a venue for bridge classes. The kitchen and toilets have been refurbished, the lighting and heating improved and we now have proper bridge tables in use at the venue! Parking is unrestricted in the immediate area. Tuesday is Chiswick day with a beginners class in the morning, an improvers' class in the afternoon and a supervised play session in the evening.
